Thomas Yackley’s lifelong fascination with photography began when he joined his high school newspaper staff in 1973. The position included taking photos with a 35mm SLR camera and developing black and white images in the darkroom. He’s been shooting digital and developing on the computer since 1999. He is a member of the Professional Photographers Association, the Georgia Nature Photographers Association, Southeastern Photographic Society, and the North American Nature Photographers Association.
Digital photo painting and photo encaustic are among his favorite techniques. The natural world is a favorite theme in his images. Besides shooting landscapes and wildlife, Thomas enjoys teaching photo classes and leading workshops in the Smoky Mountains. Along with his wife, Robin Yackley, Thomas is Co-Artistic Director of the Alpharetta Community Chorus and leads the Park Place Social Singers.
Acclaimed photographer Greg Lawson described Yackley’s work as “lovely.” “I can see the musical qualities associated with your personal history energetically entwined in the imagery.”
